PRESS: Russian Railways may rise BAM tariff 15% to accelerate works

MOSCOW, Mar 16 (PRIME) -- Russian Railways has suggested raising the cargo traffic tariff on the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) part leading to the port of Vanino by 15% for three years in order to accelerate the launch of the infrastructure leading to the port, business daily Kommersant reported on Thursday citing a letter by First Deputy CEO Vadim Mikhailov.

Russian Railways earlier suggested postponing the launch of 14 infrastructure objects on the Komsomolsk–Vanino segment to 2025 from 2024, but some government agencies opposed the decision, and the government ordered to elaborate an investment tariff.

Mikhailov’s letter envisages the launch of 13 objects in 2024 while the Chepsary–Mongokhto second main railway, and the Landyshy station repairs should be finished in 2025.

The coal transportation tariff on the Vanino–Sovetskaya Gavan railway may rise by 28% from 2024 to raise investment for the contruction, but with credit resources the increase can amount to about 15%.
